The Best Scene Was Cut

Bladerend op mijn harde schijf kwam ik een ander feestverhaal tegen, deze keer geschreven voor het 50-jarig bestaan van het blad.
Voor de jubileumfeestverhalen heb ik mezelf een paar regels gesteld:
- Naast Donald moeten er zoveel mogelijk Disney-personages in voor komen
- Aan het einde moeten die allemaal te zien zijn op een paginagrote plaat.
- Als het even kan moet het ook over het blad zelf gaan.

"Kerel 3000" voldoet eraan, hoewel de feestplaat niet helemaal paginagroot is.
"Donald 50 jaar" voor 100%. De grote plaat in het theater lijkt wel leeg, maar het is natuurlijk de bedoeling dat de tekenaar de schouwburg barstens vol tekent met Disney familileden. Ik zal wel geen tijd gehad hebben, of oververmoeid zijn geweest...

Het was omstreeks diezelfde dagen dat ook het blad "Katrien" opgezet werd, met een veel modernere Katrien als voorbeeld voor de meisjes, dus dat kon ik mooi meenemen in het scenario.
Ik vind het zelf één van mijn meest hilarische verhalen. Ik zie strips toch al als theater, en in dit verhaal wordt daar volop gebruik van gemaakt. Jammer dat omwille van een advertentie er maar 19 bladzijden voor het verhaal beschikbaar waren en de twee bladzijden met Willie Wortel tot één teruggesneden werden, waardoor dat onderdeel veel minder leuk overkwam in het blad. Het was nog wel mijn favoriete scène. Ach, ik lijd wat af...

Leafing through my hard disk I stumbled upon another "festivity" story, this time to celebrate the 50 years of the magazine.
For the festivity stories I impose myself a few rules:
- Apart from Donald, a maximum number of Disney characters should participate
- At the end, they must all be visible in a full page panel
- If possible, it should talk about the magazine itself.

"Dude 3000" does fit the rules, although the splash panel is not completely a full page.
"50 Years Donald" is one hunderd percent. The splash page in the theater looks empty, but it is up to the final artist to fill it chock full with members of the Disney family. I probably didn't have enough time, or I may have been exhausted...

It was around the same time that the publishing house started the magazine "Daisy", with a really modern Daisy as role model for girls, so I could use this in my story.
I find this one of my most hilarious stories. To me, comics are like comedy theatre, and I exploited this theme thoroughly here.
It was a real pity that to make place for an advertisement they had only 19 pages available instead of the full 20, so the two Gyro Gearloose pages were cut to one page, so his scene was much less funny in print. In fact, it was my favorite scene. I suffer a lot...
